How does International experience affect your app?

I am currently a junior in high school trying to figure out my top choices for college. I was wondering if having experience as an international student could help my chances at top universities.

I lived overseas (SE Asia) for four years from 6th-9th grade and I have had multiple people (teachers/counselors...) tell me that it can be very beneficial to show that you are "diverse and multi-cultural."

Is this true? Thanks!

I think it can give you a minor push, nothing major. If you have the same resume with other applicants then the international experience will help you get accepted.

It gives you the advantage of experience. Colleges know you are fairly independent because you were able to live outside the country for a while (assuming your parents didn’t move there with you). Otherwise it’s a small push like the previous poster said.
