How does it work?

When transferring to other colleges, does it matter how long you've attended a college in time, or just does it matter how many credits you have? For example by next fall I should have close to 60 credits. Would the college look at my app the same as if I had been in college for two years and accumulated the same amount of credits, even though I was there for only one?

um, are they AP/test credits? then yes, they will look at it as if you've only been to college for one year

Are all of your 60 units graded with A-F system? Or are most of them just AP credits that has no grade?

If it's the latter one, then the adcom will look at your high school grade.

For example, a person could have 60 units, but out of those 60, 32 of them could be from AP credit. In that case, the Adcom will look at your 28 other credits (which you actually have grades for) PLUS your high school GPA.

I mean 60 college-earned credits, 9 through dual-enrollment, and the rest are through summer classes and heavy course loads

if they are all graded classes they will look at you as a two-year applicant

EDIT: ie: a junior transfer

So that means, even though I would be one year removed from HS I would be looked as a typical junior transfer if my credits are as many as I need them to be? Will this also mean HS wont matter as much as it would for a soph. transfer?

Yes. 30 seems to be the magic number.
If you have at least 30 GRADED COLLEGE credits, then your high school GPA would matter VERY LITTLE.

This is such great news man, you dont even know

"If you have at least 30 GRADED COLLEGE credits, then your high school GPA would matter VERY LITTLE."

No...30 graded credits is basically one year of college. 60 would be the magic number, as it is the ideal number of credits for someone applying as a junior transfer, at which point your high school grades don't matter much at all. If you only had 30 credits under your belt, that's one year of college and your high school grades would still be really important.

I was talking about at the time of application....

But ill have like 42 completed, and be working on my final 18 in the spring semester

you'll be fine then.

I am considering dropping a class so would it matter if I dropped the class because then I would have 38 completed, and I would do 18 in spring semester and 4 in the summer?

no...is it going to give you a W on your transcript? It's ok if you have one (or maybe two) but they usually expect an explanation if you have several dropped classes. If you hurry (at least at my school) the class won't even appear on your transcript, so you may get lucky there.

yea, ill be early enough so it wont have any effect on my transcript
