How does McGill compare to....

How does the McGill management program compare to NYU Stern's undergraduate program. I've been accepted to both, but I don't know how McGill stacks up against it. Stern is nearly twice the tuition, but I can still afford it. So it really comes to job prospects in the US and prestige.

yeah i was wondering about the strength of mcgill's management program too.. i have been accepted to both mcgill and the university of michigan and intend to study business.. what are the job prospects like for foreign managment students at mcgill? and how does it compare with top b schools like ross and stern?

i was wondering if anyone knows how McGill would rank amongst US universities... would it be within the top 10, 20... any ideas??

the times newspaper (england) ranked Mcgill 21 in the world..however these rankings are usually unrealiable and biased

nonetheless reputation wise it could possibly be top 20 when compared with US universities.

FT rankings are much more reliable than usnews'

oh ok thanks...

The Sunday Times rankings have been criticized repeatedly for their flawed and illogical methodology. Unfortunately, there are no tables available to truly compare universities around the world. Nevertheless, US universities are far superior in the education they provide and I seriously doubt that McGill could compete with any of the top 30 US universities.

i was actually thinking along the same lines... completely agree with you there inuendo!

that's a little harsh. I'm sure none of the Canadian universities can compare with Harvard, Yale, or any of the other Ivies, but as for the other schools, I wouldn't say that McGill comes too far behind, if at all.

McGill graduates do quite well in securing spots at graduate schools worldwide. It might seem like "that Canadian school across the border," but its programs are excellent.

but how does McGill Management stick up against Stern. Is Stern a lot better?

I've come to realize through my recent dilemma over Queen's and McGill that the school's rank and reputation can only do so much. How much success you have in university and after university really depends on what you make of it. McGill is a great school and one of the best in Canada. Go to a university where you can picture yourself. You're going to be in that environment for the next four years. Go somewhere where you'll not only enjoy the university experience and learn a lot, but live life to the fullest. Things change, especially career paths. I'm one of those people who have a pretty focused career goal, or at least a pretty clear idea, so I can totally relate to those of you who want to find the quickest and easiest way their, i.e. via a reputable school. But I've come to realize that the experience is worth so much more, especially because it's only undergrad. That's just my opinion, but I wouldn't worry too much about rankings. Each school has a lot to offer, and every school is going to have it's drawbacks.

Stern is far better than Mcgill management. Stern is one of the best business school's in the USA and has superb resources for its undergraduates.

McGill ranks EXTREMELY well with top US universities....my brother is finishing up his sophmore year there and basically says that every single person you meet is brilliant. My brother was one of the best in his graduating class at a hard private school and says McGill is a hard school and he is by no means one of the top students there, but he loves it! It's a very stimulating environment and he does not regret choosing it over 2 top US universities he got accepted to.

it's cold, though
