How does McGill work?

I'm an American and I only know how American colleges work (choosing majors, ect.). How does it work in McGill? I heard something about 5 years undergrad? Also I can't switch out of my "major"?

I want to do international relations or cultural anthropology, so do they ahve those?

thanks

untrue, mcgill is 4 years and you can switch majors easily with some regulations from departments.

Yes, they have those.

Can you give me a link to a list of majors on their website (like how most American websites work). thanks

It’s the same as any American university man lol, just google it

I couldn’t find it. Do they have minors too? Or at least, can I take a foreign language even if its not my major? And right now on their application im on the program choice selection part. They said I cannot change once I pick, so that kinda confusing. What is this?

and does McGill have Secondary School Report forms like US colleges for counselors to send stuff?

[What can I study?](http://www.mcgill.ca/undergrad/study/)

Virtually every program has open electives that students can choose.

I assume that by program selection it means which faculty/school you are applying to. You can choose a first choice and a second choice. If admitted say to Arts, you cannot choose to enrol in Management, for example.

In general, you are not required to lock in a specific major within each faculty until the end of your freshman year. So you could change your mind between history and English with no problem. For chamges between faculties, that would be an internal transfer.

is transferring between departments allowed?

can you switch majors in say sophmore year?

lets say I go to the arts department, does that mean NONE of my classes will be math or science?

If I want to do international relations, where is that?

What is the difference between general stuides and art legacy?

How do I send my transcripts to them? American colleges usually have a form I can print out and give to my counselor.

Yes

Yes

No. You can pick all the math and science classes you want as electives.

Arts (International Development Studies)

Not sure on this subject

You get an official transcript from you highschool and mail it or fax it to the admission office.

The McGill website says they will pay close attention to grades from classes related to my intended field of study, yet, their online application doesn’t ask for an intended major. Instead, the only option for “major” is “freshmen program.” How does that work?
