Thanks for looking. I’m a freshman here at Cal and I’m interested in applying to Haas. I’m trying to pick the classes that will meet the pre-reqs and give me the best chance at getting in. My AP’s allow me to waive R1A and 3 breadths. If anybody that knows about Haas admission would comment, it would be very appreciated.

Fall 07 (taking now)

Math 1A ( I thought it would be easy, it’s not. I should have taken 16A)

Rhetoric R1A (I actually waived R1A through AP, but I thought it would be a good idea to take an R1A to prepare for R1B. I’m not sure how useful it will be, but Rhetoric turned out to be not so easy. Luckily I’m taking it P/NP. A Haas counselor said it was ok.)

Physics C10 (Physical Science breadth, pretty easy)

Spring 08

Math 16B (required for Econ major, Econ website says its ok to take 16b, hopefully easy)

Comp Lit R1B (I might look for a easier class, still deciding)

UGBA 10

Breadth (undecided)

Fall 08

Econ 1

Breadth or Stat 21?

Breadth

Breadth

Spring 09

Econ 100 (required for Econ)

Literature/Writing requirement for Haas

Breadth or Stat 21?

Breadth

That’s the schedule, but I have a few questions.

How important is it that I fufill Stat 21 and Lit/Writing BEFORE spring 09? Taking 3 breadths during Fall 08 would help my GPA, but would it be bad to not have taken those two classes when I’m applying? I asked a counselor about this and she said taking Stat 21 in spring is fine, but I want to get a second opinion here.

Same question but with Econ 100. I think I would be applying to Econ major in Spring 09, so should I take Econ 100 earlier?

Thanks for the help.
