how does my list look and suggestions for other schools?

I am a senior and currently working on my applications. My stats are:
UW GPA-3.5
ACT-21 (retook on the 23rd and hopefully improved, i studied for this one)
SAT-1550
i know horrible test scores, I'm not really sure why i did so poorly on them.
EC'S
3 years tennis-2 years varsity-1 year captain ( also trained pretty much year long at a local indoor tennis locations)
3 years Leadership
over 150 hours community service
2 years National honor society-1 year officer
did a short ( 12 day) exchange program in France

Course load:
4 AP classes
1 honors class ( my school only offers 2 honors classes)
advanced science 3 years ( skipped freshman science)

The schools i currently have on my list are :

Reach: University of Pittsburgh

Match: Boston University (match or low reach, depending on test scores IMO), University of Washington ( instate)

Safety: Boise State, Temple University, Western Washington University.

I am undecided on what i want to major, my options are (at least what i think my top 2 are) Athletic Training and Hospitality hotel management. Any suggestions on other Colleges i should be looking at? I want a pretty big school, and typically i want schools that are in a big town, but I'm not against other options. Also any critique on my current list. Thanks!

Western Washington is a good safety. I love Bellingham. One of my favorite small city along left coast. It should be relatively easy to transfer to UW if you do well in your first year.

Good luck!

Penn State treats in-state the same as out-of-state for admissions. I don’t know if they have hotel management, but they have almost every other major on earth.

You had better hit it out of the park with your app essay. What you consider matches are actually reaches and your safeties are really matches. In all the schools you listed standardized tests are at least important and you are mostly below the 25%ile.

Yeah i know my scores are below average. Just assuming i do better on my act, would it increase my chances with about a 25 act?

Bump anyone else?

Have you considered Arizona State? Good business school with BA in tourism and lots of local resorts in the Scottsdale area to intern at.

A 25 ACT would help a great deal with Temple and Boise (near the 75%ile), right at the 50%ile for WWash, barely above the 25%ile for UW, still under the 25%ile for BU.

bump? anyone

Is money an issue?

If you are in-state, UW is going to be a super reach…unless perhaps you are a URM/hooked? Western is a great school, I would definitely keep that on your list!

Perhaps U of O? Close to Washington, automatic admission for students with a 3.4

why would you say its a super reach for instate?

And for money, its not a huge issue. I mean my parents cannot afford 50,000 a year but we do alright

UW’s acceptance rate is very high. You could get luckily, but a 3.5 and 21 ACT is well below what they normally consider.

According to collegeboard: middle ACT is 24-30 (middle of that is 27)
Your GPA/ACT are not high enough

Well as you are not looking at schools that meet need and merit aid will be tough, it’s hard to suggest schools without knowing what’s reasonable for your family.

BU for example would be over $50,000, with aid unlikely. Many OOS publics are over $40,000.

Have you tried an online college matching site? College Confidential has a college search function or http://www.myUsearch.com is another good resource. Hope that helps.
