How does my SAP appeal letter look

Hi you guys

Below is a ROUGH draft of my appeal letter. Please in anyway let me know what I should change, keep, get rid of completely...any feedback will be helpful.

Keep in mind this a ROUGH draft. I do understand it is lengthy but I felt that it was necessary to include the things I stated.

I will be providing an educational work plan when I get one tomorrow, also proof of my parent's divorce and my grandpa's death certificate.

My name is ¬¬______________and I am writing to you in hopes of releasing the suspension that has been placed on to my Financial Aid. I would like to address why I have fallen behind in my studies, which unfortunately lead me all together to drop out of college for several years. I had always been a very successful student in High School, consistently maintaining a 3.0 g.p.a.

Registering my first semester of college of Fall 2007, I was very excited to start a new journey of my life to eventually lead me to a successful future. I registered for units, but as time progressed I realized that I was not as mentally as prepared as I thought I was. College was a new territory that not anyone in my family had ever tapped into, and something that no one can really prepare you for. With the added pressure of my family always trying to make sure I succeed and did well in college, I had personal issues going on at home. Towards the end of the Fall 2007, beginning Spring 2008 semester my home life was a mess. My grandfather was in and out of the hospital suffering from Pulmonary Edema(water in the lungs). This took a huge toll on my family as we all had to take shifts at the hospital every night for a few months. Eventually in May 2008 he passed away, after being on hospice for about a month. The transition was difficult for us all.

During this time my parents after 25 years of marriage were divorcing, it was a lot to deal with. To be honest I felt my whole world was slowly but surely crashing, and I could do nothing about it. Right after divorce finalized, my Dad remarried, additionally going through all this and having to deal with my grandfather’s death, not only put a damper on my life but put me into a depression that was hard to get out of. In July 2008, due to the economy; my hours at work got cut, so I went ahead and picked up second job and would work sixty-five plus hours a week. I needed to make sure to keep myself a float because my mom, brother and I were left to financially support ourselves after my parents divorced.

At that time I had decided not to continue school because of what was going on in my personal life, I felt that right decision would be not to continue at the moment. I did not re-enroll for the Fall 08 semester. In September both of jobs that I was working let me go, and I was left with nothing, thankfully I got another job working in Los Angeles that same month. It was a position I had never had experienced before with more responsibility and higher pay, I would constantly do over time, and easily would work seventy hours a week or even more. After finally getting settled I was unfortunately laid off in February 2009 due to the economic situation. I was once again left with nothing and try to figure out what to do next. I had decided that the spring 2008 semester not to attend, because my work had simply taken me away from doing so. I was still trying to support myself and help my mom in any which way I could.

After being laid off for about nine months I finally got a job in August, I was ecstatic and decided to pick up school again. I went ahead and registered and took a few online courses, but as time progressed I found it hard to keep up. I realized I was a person who needed that interaction with other students, and loved hearing other different point of views. After experiencing this I felt defeated.

Now as an adult I have more of a sense of who I am, where I want to be, and what I want out of life. After attending my first semester at ________ in the Fall of 2012 I was able to maintain a steady 4.0 and the second semester I took on more of a workload and completed my second semester with a 2.65. I’ am trying to get my life into order and make sure that I ‘am successful in whatever I take on. I have a position within a company that is flexible and gives me an opportunity to focus on my studies the way they need to be. I am making my way up on the education plan and have completed _________% of major generals. I do hope to eventually transfer over to a 4 year university and graduate with a bachelor’s in Business Administration. With patience comes success, and I’m willing to do what I need to do in my life to be successful.

Thank you for your time!
