How Does My Schedule Look?

I created my high school schedule the night before, and want to know if it sounds any good. My friends say it looks great, but I need numerous opinions. Does it look too hard? Too easy? Do I need to add something? I have a 4.0 GPA as of now.
Note- 2 years of health and gym are required.

bumpppp??!?!?

Looks like you will have fun (sarcasm). Why are there 9 classes some years and 8 classes others? Is it the block schedule? Don’t self study anything senior year, you will not feel like doing that!

You have a 4.0 in 9th grade? Who the hell cares. Stop this silly planning and just do the work when it comes.

You’re basically screwing yourself over by pressuring yourself into some static direction of what you’re supposed to do. You shouldn’t even know what you’re doing in 12th grade in 9th grade, as it is irrelevant to this current moment.

Freshman: Don’t double on the history unless you want to major in humanities.
Sophomore: Don’t double on the math unless you want to major in science or math.

Junior and Senior years look pretty difficult (are you sure you want to take AP Chem, Physics, AND Bio?!?)- remember that you want time for ECs. You shouldn’t take more than 5-6 courses, not counting gym/health and lunch. And as others said, just plan for Freshman year and tentatively for the others.

Excuse me, but I should know what I am doing in twelfth grade, as we have to plan our whole high school schedule this year. Ever have that in mind? It is required for me to plan everything now because they are making all the schedules this year.
I know all the AP Sciences and doubling up in history does sound like a lot, but I am very interested in those subjects. I enjoy school and learning new subjects. I like to challenge myself and apply myself to do my work.

You might be making your high school plan this year, but believe me it’s not set in stone. Teachers leave, teachers begin to teach different subjects, different subjects can be added and removed. It’s just a plan, we all made them. As for senior year, I wouldn’t self study anything. Especially Calculus. You’ll most likely develop senioritis, and probably won’t be motivated to work in the classes you HAVE to take. Much less classes that aren’t required.

Are you allowed to change your HS Schedule after this year? I feel like you might think you’re taking this now but everyone has a different view as a middle school/freshman, the n say a Sophomore or Junior. Also AP Chem, Physics and Bio in one year is A LOT. I am in AP Chem right now and we get a TON of work and my friends in Bio get almost the same. Taking all 3 in one year could end really badly. Also, can you take BC Calc without AB? If you can, I recommend taking Hon Physics Soph year instead of precaclc and taking one of those AP Sciences Junior year instead.
But take what you want. Nobody is stopping you. Why do they make all the schedules now though? That seems silly.

You should probably tell the head of your school that he is an idiot if you actually have to follow through the schedule as is. Your life is going to be hell with the AP load you planned for yourself.

Not sure why everyone’s being so negative tonight…5/6 AP classes in a year is a lot but I don’t think it’s unreasonable.

It’s just that it’s a very bad idea to force yourself into a plan you made as a freshman.

Since you’re here asking for schedule advice, I suggest you listen when they point out potential problems, instead of saying “But I Can Handld It!” Seems Luke you only want people to assure you that your schedule is fine…

If I were you, I’d hope this schedule isn’t set in stone. Things can change, and you may not want to keep this plan. Good Luck

If you’re going to plan ahead that much you might as well also plan to get a psychologist because you may be at risk of suicide during senior year.

Oh wow…so many spelling errors in my post

…that’s the last time I submit via phone

I definitely would not double up on math with Alg II and Precalc. I know some people that did this, and most ended up retaking Precalc which completely messed up their schedules. I think it would be better to take Alg II Sophomore year, Precalc Junior year, then double up with Calc AB and Calc BC Senior year.

Also, I would listen to the advice about AP Physics, AP Bio, and AP Chem. I wouldn’t take them in the same year. I understand that you think you can handle it, but (and I don’t mean to sound harsh) you probably can’t. Don’t take it personally, I don’t know anyone who could handle that. I’m in AP Biology right now and spend about 2 or 3 hours a night on it, AP physics and chem would be another hour or two each. That wouldn’t give you time for your other classes. Maybe take AP Chem during sophomore year and don’t take honors chem, then take AP Physics during junior year and don’t take honors physics, and take AP Bio during Senior year.

Finally, work on deciding between honors and AP (For example, take honors us hist OR AP us hist, honors chem OR AP chem, honors world OR AP World, etc). I wouldn’t take an honors course and then turn around and take the AP for the same course. I agree with sg12909 that you should reduce your schedule so you’re only taking 5-6 classes at a time, and choosing honors OR AP for each course would be the best way to reduce your schedule. This will give you time to do some extracurricular and other stuff colleges like.

Guys, the OP said the school is requiring them to plan ahead this far, which is a bad choice on the school’s part regardless of what schedule the OP picks. It’s better to have a more challenging schedule than a less challenging one if it has to be set in stone for the next three years.

I would recommend keeping the AP classes you have except for the self-studies, but can you take two or three of them sophomore year so you don’t have so many out of nowhere junior year? Like move Spanish III to junior year and take one of your junior-year AP classes in its place sophomore year.

The only problem with that thatonedude822, is that some schools require taking honors in a particular subject before taking the subject in AP. It shows dedication and provides background information before taking the AP course. Only take the AP classes that are you are really interested and meaningful to you rather than just piling them for college apps.

Your schedule looks pretty good. If you get solid grades in those classes you will be set!

Thank you everyone for your feedback. I am definitely going to change my schedule around.
For those of you who are criticizing me for planning ahead, it’s not my choice. My high school requires to plan your whole schedule beforehand. Of course you can change and adjust it throughout the years, but they want a solid schedule. I can’t do anything about it and the majority of my school actually like planning the schedule ahead since it benefits them.
Anyways, my school does required taking the regular course, or honors, before taking the AP version. For example, you must take honors chemistry before taking AP chemistry. Here is my revised schedule. I decided to add another elective because I think it is important to have a fun class that I could easily do well in. P.S. since I’m taking health and gym in freshman year and soph year, I have 9 classes instead of the regular eight.

You’re schedule improved a lot! My main question is how many classes do you take in year/per semester? My school has a block schedule we have 8 classes a year/ 4 a semester. Lunch doesn’t count as a class for us, and we have to take 8 in a year. How does your school work?
