So this summer is going to be pretty dope. But this is also the summer before I apply to very selective colleges such as Dartmouth, McGill, and UCLA this fall. So between the summer trips with family and friends - I wanted to know how this would look to a college. I am going to take several APs over the summer: AP Calc BC, AP Physics 1, AP Gov, and AP CS A. Furthermore, I am doing a few competitions (just to stand out). Lastly, Fall sports start practice in August. I think that’s pretty much all my summer can handle, but how would this look to selective colleges. I’d much rather tell my friends I cant make it on a trip to make sure that my application stands out.
I don’t think taking a bunch of HS classes over the summer will contribute much to your application. How do you think that will show them that you’re interesting? I’m not being snarky, I’m trying to see what story you’re trying to tell about yourself and how what you’re doing over the summer contributes to that story.
I didn’t mean to come off as pretentious or snarky, I apologize if I did. I wanted to know what I could do over the summer in addition to what I am already doing in order to make my application look better. My logic was that if I use my summer for something productive it will show colleges that I am truly interested in expanding my knowledge in school and outside of school.
