So my guidance councilor told me about this tool that our school uses. Its called Naviance. I looked at it and saw my GPA way higher then the one my school reported to me. Does anyone know how Naviance calculates GPA, and which one is reported to colleges.
can you tell us the number.
Poorly…
(couldn’t resist…)
Colleges get your transcript, don’t worry about what they see unless it is significantly off, like more than 0.1 different.
I have a 4.07 as my weighted GPA on my transcript and a 4.65 on Naviance.
I think since my high school weights AP courses by 1.2 and Naviance wights them by 2, they are different
Your GC office enters that data (they enter pretty much all your Naviance data). If there is a problem, talk to them.
It takes a long time for Naviance to update. I wouldn’t stress about it too much.
@emm628 I doubt my GPA dropped .58 points in a month.
@HarvardDream101 Naviance generally has older data. It might be from the very beginning of the semester, or even the end of last year. I know that by the time mine accurately reflected my GPA at the end of my junior year, my senior year had already started.
The one on your transcript is most likely the accurate one. If you are extremely concerned about it I would ask your guidance counselor, but from what I was told by mine, your transcript is not submitted through Naviance and Naviance is mostly just a tool for counselors and students.
@emm628 Thank you, I’ll speak with my counselor. The thing is, our gpa can’t go higher than 4.2 in the district. Aps only have a weight a 1.2. So I don’t know why Naviance has a gap higher then 4.2 posted. My grades are steady, been like that since freshman year.
