How does one explain Wesleyan to the layperson?

I'm applying to college this year, and obviously the question of "WHERE ARE YOU APPLYING" will never cease to end..

When I answer Wes as my top choice, nobody has a clue about what I'm talking about. As an lac i'm sure many have faced this but how you guys explain what Wesleyan is to someone that has no idea what Wesleyan is??

most have no idea what i'm talking about and i'm sure they assume its some poop school with no reputation! How do you guys handle this?

“Wesleyan? It’s in Connecticut and it’s called a “Little Ivy League” school. Same or better quality as the Ivy League but without the snobbery and pretentiousness. At Wes you create your own curriculum and you get to work very closely with your professors on an incredible range of cool research projects and summer internships. If you’re into sports, you have an excellent shot at being on a varsity team. As an undergrad, you can’t get any of that at Harvard.”

i really like that second line… thanks for the response finally haha
