My son didn't have a roommate preference so he chose a room that he thought looked good. As I understand it, the way housing works at Ole Miss is that eventually someone else will choose the second bed in the room and become his roommate.

How will he find out? Will he get an email? (He's in the Residential College so it was not easy to find a roommate on Facebook, which appears to be the way that those looking for roommates generally find them.)

Thanks.

I could be mistaken, but I think that an email is sent to the student notifying them that someone has booked themselves into a room with the student. He can also log in and check, and it should show that someone has booked themselves into the room online.

Is your son in Honors or another special program? I know that there’s an “Ole Miss Honors College 2016” facebook page where many of the Honors students are connecting and many have found roommates there.

While it may seem scary, going “potluck” isn’t a bad idea either.

He’s in Honors but didn’t see posts from honors kids saying they were moving into the Residential College. Many are headed to the new Honors Dorm.
