I am currently in the process of applying to college through the CommonApp, but have various issues regarding my high school transcripts.

The situation is that I've attended three high schools in the last 4 years: a public high school in California for my freshman year, and 2 different public high schools in Australia, one for grade 10, and one for grades 11-12.

Should I contact each of my two previous schools to have them mail them to each of the schools I'm applying to? I do have the official transcripts from both schools in my possession; should I package them together with transcripts from my current school in an envelope and have my current GC mail them to the schools I'm applying to? Is it possible for him to upload each transcript onto CommonApp?

In Grade 10 in Australia, students took leaving examinations for entry into Grade 11. Should I submit my government-issued transcript with my results for these examinations in lieu of transcripts for grade 10 (as the 'grades' given in on the transcript given by my school in grade 10 weren't really grades, but evaluations of our work ethic and habits in class).

Is there any easier way of submitting my transcripts?

And finally, is it okay if my GC submits/mails all the transcripts after the application deadlines?

If you already have official transcripts from your former schools it will be fine for your current GC to submit them in for you. So long as the ones you have are official, you don’t need to request new ones or have them sent directly by the old schools.

Mailing from Aus. after the deadline might not be a good plan. Although most schools give a little flexibility for receipt of items other than your app, mail from there takes a while (especially during the holiday season.) You’d be better off if the GC package is sent by DHL, FedEx, email or something faster than regular mail.

You question about your grade 10 results is specific to your country’s system and you’ll want to find an answer from someone familiar with the protocol for Australian applicants. One good resource is
https://www.educationusa.info/ You might also want to pose that particular question in the International Students forum on this site.

If you have multiple official sealed copies of your transcripts from your old schools, yes you can put them in one larger envelope along with an official sealed copy of your transcript from your current school, and then send it as one large package.

This only works if they are official, sealed, originals.

My daughters have also attended 3 high schools. The transcript for the school they will graduate from has all the course work included and that has been accepted by the schools they applied to. The only exception has been the NCAA clearing house which requires transcripts from each school separately.

Hey guys, quick question again: the transcripts received from my Australian high schools are multiple pages each. Is it possible to upload these or should I have my counselor send them by mail?

Your counselor needs to scan them if they’re not already in digital format, and upload them on CommonApp. Each transcript can be uploaded separately, or made into one .pdf per school. You have a maximum of 4 uploads permitted though so I’d keep one for 9th grade if it’s “lower school/middle school”, and one for high school/upper secondary school. There’s a question that asks whether they’re from an international school: check yes = new questions open: is promotion within your secondary school system based on national examinations? Your counselor should answer yes and in the space provided, upload your 10th grade examination grade report. Those may replace the 10th grade transcripts. If they’re similar to GCSE’s with the grades all adding up to a percentage of the final exam grade, added to a national exam grade, then only the examination grade report is expected. If the year-long classes with grades are different from what appears on the national examination report (e.g., you only took 5 subjects for national examinations, but had 9 subjects including PE during the year…) you need both transcript and examination report.
Even if high school starts in 10th grade in Australia, you need to include your 9th grade transcripts or examination reports.
Your counselor uploads everything only once on CommonApp, then each college you apply to downloads the materials whenever they’re ready. No need to mail or to worry about postal delays.

Thanks MYOS for the info. One more question: can my current GC scan and upload transcripts from my other schools? Or am I required to go to the other schools and have them upload the documents? How can I make sure the transcripts are “official”? Are the copies the school gives to my parents “official” or do I have to get them stamped or something before scanning and uploading?

Yes as long as these transcripts were provided when you arrived at your current school (as I assume).
YOU don’t scan and upload. Your counselor does. Your counselor should have all your records.
If s/he doesn’t, then yes you need a notarized stamp (some kind of official stamp showing you didn’t tamper with either the original or the copy, typically delivered in some kind of official place like the townhall local branch).

Can you clarify what you mean by “as long as these transcripts were provided when you arrived at your current school”?

I have all my transcripts, but they were given to me while I was at each of my different schools. Shall I simply hand these over to my GC and have him upload them? Or do I get the transcripts I currently have stamped and then give them to my GC to upload?

Okay, can anyone tell me if I’m submitting my transcripts correctly?

9th grade: Emailed previous high school counselor, have her either mail my transcripts to each of the schools I’m applying for or add her as a counselor and have her upload the transcripts onto CommonApp.

10th grade: Have current counselor upload my government issued end-of-year examination results which contain both my school grades and exam results to CommonApp.

11th-12th grade: Have current counselor upload all my transcripts from my current school.

Is there anything wrong with what I’m doing?

I assumed that when you arrive at your current school, your previous school sent your academic file along. And so your current counselor should be able to upload 9th grade transcripts, 10th grade exam results, and predicted results for upper school examination (with transcripts if relevant).
