I know that the admissions are about 50% in state and 50% out of state...
My friend who's an Asian male who's from an elite private school in New Jersey.
He has about a 4.1 GPA weighted, (which is pretty good for his school) and let's assume his extracurriculars and essays and all that will be top-notch. His SAT 2's are both decently high and let's also assume his Sat will 2250 (a bit pessimistic).

Would he have an equal chance as asians in California with similar credentials?
My friend REALLY wants to go to Stanford but is afraid too many factors might work against him. However, something notable about him is that he really is different from other Asian kids. He's really not the "study all day" asian science math phenom. He's very well-rounded in everything, is a nationally competitive jazz musician, does great community service etc. I personally think that he's a dynamic individual who would be a great fit for a school like Stanford.

I know this is pretty ambiguous and assuming alot but I'm just going to throw this out there anyway.
I guess.. does he have a shot? and does his out of state work against him?
