How Does Pepperdine apply any outside scholarships received?

Hi all,
Does anyone out there happen to know how Pepperdine applies any outside scholarships? My daughter might receive a couple of outside scholarships in the next month and we were wondering if Pepperdine lets you deduct them from the offered loans OR do they take away from any Pepperdine grants they offered her in her financial aid?
Thanks to all for any help! :)

I am not sure, I would imagine it is the loans, but I suggest you contact the financial aide office. I am sure they can help you. They tend to be pretty busy and graduation is this week, so may I suggest email. Good luck with the scholarships!

Dont send an email, their finiacial aid department is not very good at responding to emails in a timely fashion. You should give them a call, they have advisors availible specifically for upcoming freshman right now so I dont think it will be hard to contact them even with it being grad week.

I got the impression that private scholarships owuld come out of loans when I had called. I specifcally asked if I could reduce my loans later if I needed to since I am waiting to hear back from a few acholarships and dont know how much in loans I will need to take out. Regarding the nature of that conversation, I think if private scholarships would deduct from Pepperdine grants I would have been informed of that.

But giving them a call might be a good idea anyways.

Thanks for all the advice. We did call the Financial aid office. It looks like every situation is different but they said they would allow us to apply any outside scholarship awards (crossing- fingers) towards work study and then loans.

I cannot tell everyone how helpful Pepperdine has been. Every time we call with a question they are quick with a response and so very helpful.

We feel truly blessed that our daughter will be attending Pepperdine! :)
