How does retaking a course look?

For the first semester of Honors Precalc this year, my teacher was IMPOSSIBLE. I tried my hardest and got a B-. Obviously not content with this grade, I retook it (just this first half of the course) [this time with a different teacher] and got an A. In my GPA, the A replaces the B-, but does retaking a course make me look dumb? How is this looked at by college adcoms?

It depends. what year are you? I don’t know if retaking the class was the best choice because a b minus isn’t going to kill you (I’m a strong math student but geometry was my downfall). if you are only a sophomore or a freshman colleges may overlook it. You’ll be fine I’m sure since you ended up with an a.

I’m a junior…

He has a history of making rude comments like that.

As for your question… I think colleges won’t see it as a full-fledged ‘A’, but they won’t see it as a ‘B’ either. I guess it will be seen as somewhere in-between.

But it will help your class rank and GPA.

Does it look better than just taking the B- in my junior year?

And my school doesn’t rank haha

I think its fine. Dont worry too much haha
