How does Rice University take AP Credit?

I've heard that Rice will no longer take AP Credit for 'distribution' classes or something. I know they don't accept the English AP Credit, and that they only accept 4 or higher. I've taken about 12 AP Exams with scores of 4 and higher and I was hoping to maybe graduate a year early w/ a degree in biochem. I know people have done this before at Rice, but some people told me that recently rice changed its policy and won't really let me use any AP credits except for like physics bio and chem. Any input? I'd really like to know how to graduate early at Rice. I haven't been accepted there yet or anything, but just for preemptive measures :) Thanks

you can find the info on their website: [AP Credit | Office of the Registrar | Rice University](Advanced Placement (AP) Credit | Office of the Registrar | Rice University)

You’re correct that you won’t really be able to get distribution credit outside of DIII (natural sciences and math) for AP/IB credit at Rice.

However, the distribution requirements aren’t onerous and don’t really take all that long to complete.

There’s really not much reason to graduate early from Rice. Even if you intend to when coming in, you’ll probably change your mind. Most people have such a great time at Rice that they want to enjoy their full four-year experience. There shouldn’t be a rush to get out of college unless you have serious financial constraints, in which case it wouldn’t make much sense to attend a private university without significant financial aid anyway (especially given that most people who can get into Rice can probably find a full ride–or something close to it–at a high-quality institution).
