I am going to apply to a few colleges and one of them will be Rutgers University: The Newbrunswick Campus. (Btw what is Rutgers famous for? Business? Law? etc.)

I heard that Rutgers has rolling admissions but I am not sure what that means.

Is it just that they process applications on a first come, first serve basis and thus give you a decision well before normal college would under Regular decision?

Like if I apply to Rutger in the middle of October, I might know my decision by the end of October/mid November?

Also, if you are accepted under Rolling Admissions (at least Rutger's Rolling Decision, are you bound to go to that school (like you are bounded by Early Decision)?

Thanks. (Oh and also, Rutgers does have rolling admissions doesn't it? lol.)

If you look at Rutger's website you will see they have "Priority Dates," not rolling admission. If you are applying as freshman and they have your application by 12/01/07, you will receive their answer by 02/28/08. Any application received after 12/01/07 will be considered on a space available basis.

Thanks. I briefly went to their website and didn't really search but thanks for the information.

I was wondering though, didn't Rutgers have rolling admission last year because I could have sworn that kids got their decision in like mid Oct or nov.

I could be mistaken about the time frame though. Or perhaps Rutgers did away with the rolling admissions.

Folks, as a mother of as Rutgers alumna, class of '07, they do have rolling admissions. DD applied by Thanksgiving and knew she was in after Christmas. For colleges with more requirements (Cook, Mason-Gross), really keep this in mind or you might miss out. The other colleges are merging-sort of- but not Cook, Mason-Gross, and pretty sure not Douglass. Probably not Pharmacy or Engineering either.
