DD applied late January and we did not expect acceptance anytime soon. Last night I noticed a number of postings regarding financial aid, hence I checked her status page and were happy to find out that she was accepted by all three colleges.
Then I noticed someone posted the link on financial aid, so I logged in and found out that they asked for her proof of citizenship.
My questions are
a. Does Rutgers normally notify applicants of their acceptance status? or does Rutgers rely applicants to constantly checking the status page?
b. Does Rutgers notify applicant for the required documents? I would not know if I did not check CC last night.
c. How do I upload the passport? when I clicked on https://financialaid.rutgers.edu/upload, I was sent to a document upload form. When I clicked login, it seems to require the NetID. How can I found out DD’s NetID?
Okay, Rutgers finally sent us a mail, hence it explained questions a and b above.
But I still have problem uploading the document, as when I clicked the login, it asked for the NetID and passport. I do not know what the netid is. I tried the netid.rutgers.edu to activate the netid, but it kept on saying I entered the wrong info.
Calling Rutgers twice is no help.
@annamom A NetID is something that all Rutgers students have, it’s used to log on to Rutgers affiliated websites. The only way your daughter can make one is if she’s already committed to Rutgers.
If she has, she needs to log on to the application portal and apply for one.
@mohchan360 thank you.
How do people send required documents for financial aid?
Say my daughter was initially asked to submit the proof of citizenship. the financialaid.rutgers.edu/upload direct us to a document upload form which requires us to use the NetID. It asked for the username and passport
We called, the first person answered the phone didn’t know what to do, and eventually hung up.
the second person answered the phone said the link was broken and said she submitted a request to fix the form
we eventually dropped off the proof, but was told that we were expected to drop off in-person.
It is not making sense as what if we are out of state?
I am talking to the fifth person now, and he is telling me my DD has to enroll, then she will have a netid, and then we can submit the document, then they will let me know the financial aid. I told him it is not making sense.
He then told me I do not need to submit the document such as tax transcript, W2 (even it was specifically asked on DD’s account because I can’t use IRS DRT), they will just provide me the financial aid award based on fafsa. Is it true?
I had the same issue but I’m instate and know I’m enrolling so I accepted the offer, made a net id, and then submitted a copy of my passport. You need to commit to be assigned a netid. You should receive fafsa but I think you have to enroll for merit aid. Im like 70% sure, hope this helps.
@swiftie1989 thank you. I do not think we will get merit aid as my DD does not like Rutgers, but I finally got her to apply. I was surprised that they took less than a month to accept her. According to Rutgers, they do not offer scholarship or honor to anyone applies after Dec 1.
When you said you accepted the offer, does it mean that you had paid the deposit, or just clicked accept on the status page? Did you get the offer for the financial aid letter before or after you accept the offer for admission?
We are in-state too, but I just can’t take a two hour round trip everytime when they asked for something.
You can get a financial aid letter without accepting the offer. But to submit documents you need to pay the deposit online or go to the campus in person.
