Once I submit the commonapp for the college I am applying to, how do I get them the transcript? Would my counselor take care of it or would I have to ask for a paper transcript and send it to them?

Each high school has its own procedure. Ask your counselor. The transcript does not have to be sent after you submit your application. It’s fine to have the school send it now, even if your app won’t be sent for a while. If you send the transcripts yourself, be sure to get official ones in sealed envelopes with an official’s signature or school stamp across the flap.

Alright thanks.

If you are applying to colleges using the common app there is a place to invite your school counselor. You will need their correct school email address. After they receive your invitation they will have access to the guidance counselor portion of the common app and be able to upload your transcript and counselor recommendation. You will know they have finished doing this when the status says “submitted.”

If you are applying to colleges not on the common app you will probably need to provide your counselor with the list of schools and possibly stamped, addressed envelopes for each school that still accepts paper transcripts.

It would be best to ask your counselor about your school’s particular procedure as they all differ in how they handle transcript requests.

HTH!
