Ritalin! Apparently some students take it as a study drug.

Also, no one is so smart that they don’t need to study. To do well on tests, you still need to crack open a book and learn.

Maybe she covers up the stress? Everyone has problems and this girl isn’t going to be your gossip girl + hermonie + supermodel + michelle obama all in one.

And yeah I do know like 3 of those “perfect” people. The ones who are presidents of clubs, are top varsity in sports, and can be popular and nerdy at the same time.

LOL @ the person who said “people like that always make me want to falcon punch someone…”

Anyway, you really have no idea what people do. For example, I almost never watch TV unless it’s basketball (this is mostly out of lack of interest, though). I prefer to read fiction, which probably helps me academically.

She probably doesn’t actually do it. I know a lot of people who appear like this. A lot of people in school think I’m like this. But none of us actually are.

having confidence and learning to speak like a lawyer. If you can discuss issues intelligently, you’ll be a star in high school and in college and in grad school + you’ll have mad friends.

That’s the main reason colleges recruit so many kids from prep schools. The art of discourse is invaluable because teachers want students who ask the right questions and help the class progress.

Also, if you think having one flawless kid in your class is unnerving, try prep school. You’ve got 500 closet geniuses, who are normal on the outside. They watch sports and talk about TV in their free time, but when it comes to class, they’ll rip to shreds any work you give them. That’s why I’m glad I go to one.

I can’t say i’m flawless (come on, NO ONE really is), but I also have the best marks in my school, tons of extracurriculars AND an active social life. For me it seem like the more thing I have to accomplish in a weeks, the more free time I have. I know it seems crazy, but if in a specific week I happen to have less things to do, i just feel so tired and end up not even accomplishing those few things I had to.
I think the way i explained it is a bit confusing: i can’t NOT have lots of stuff to do. If I don’t, I feel awful. And it doesn’t mean I’m an overachiever who doesn’t get any sleep nor has a social life. I get plenty of both.

It doesn’t make sense but that’s how I work. Maybe she is like that too.

^^ Your right: confidence and discourse skills help you a lot in high school. I know I write awfully in CC so I don’t seem like I have good speech skills, but english is my third language. I speak and write very well in portuguese, so my teachers adore me cuz unlike most high school students, I know how to come up with organized and coherent arguments to win a debate or write a great essay. And of course keep a good conversation with them =D

Your mention of the “best clothes” made me think of a similar case. In that case, the person was naturally pretty smart, but the parents were rich, forced them as a kid to go to tutoring for every subject and training for every activity, spent ridiculous amounts of money to “perfect” the kid, grounding them for “low” As, etc. The person developed a huge ego. Don’t know if this applies, just something I experienced with someone who was once a friend.

Anyway, everyone has their talents. Plus, it sounds like you’re doing pretty well for yourself, if you could just get some sleep.

She’s probably superficial in everything, but not superstar in anything. Those kind of kids make themselves look busy and awesome by dabbing in this and that and this and that.

Great upbringing and intelligence. It’s certainly possible, and if you work enough at it, you can bring yourself to be more like her if that’s your wish. I know I’ve improved myself immensely to try to maximize my potential. Three years ago, I don’t think anyone would have noticed if I had simply disappeared off the face of the Earth. Things are quite different now.

Maybe she is losing sleep and just doesn’t really show signs of it. I’m an optimist I suppose for saying this but it takes a lot of hard work to pull of the “I’m awesome even though I don’t work hard” look. Maybe she isn’t naturally better than you so much as she puts in more work.

Have you even tried befriending her? Why make silly assumptions without getting to know her better.

Of course she’s doing a lot better than you; she does not worry. Sigh, kids these days…

One of my friends seems like this. good for her. All I can say? I dunno…one learns to make the best of what they have :)

“Each player must accept the cards life deals him or her: but once they are in hand, he or she alone must decide how to play the cards in order to win the game.” -Voltaire

She is also extremely competitive though…and she is a sore loser…which I have only witnessed once when she lost a clarinet chair challenge against her best friend. good times. Oh and she is not athletic-at all.butsheknowsthis.

I have been said to look as if I do well on tasks with ease. ha. My close friends can tell when I am stressed out though.

Perhaps…she is Edward Cullen.

^ haha, probably

How would being a horny vampire help?

^She wouldn’t need sleep. She also would have repeated high school tens of times. Wonder if she had an increasing trend…

^ Screw having an upward trend over four years, over 40 years looks much better to colleges

But yeah we have a girl like that in my school too. She’s really hot, amazing at everything school-related, I THINK she does a sport…probably…but our class president position is taken up by this country’s future president ;P

There’s many people like that. But you never know, she may be having issues on the inside. No one is perfect. Yea, she may be either smarter than you. Or harder working than you.

Is she really perfect? How about those SATs and AP scores? It sounds like these super students just work their bums off. While that is certainly admirable, it seems less sustainable over time than someone who works hard (but short of too hard) and has a lot of raw talent/intelligence.
