How does Stanford calculate high school GPA?

  1. Do they count all of my high school grades 9th-12th grade for the GPA?
  2. If I repeated the class to improve my grade but did not fail the class originally do they count my new grades, an average of the two scores, or do not count any repeated classes at all?
  3. I took some online classes outside of my school. If I send a separate transcript of them and as long as it was UC approved, do they count that in my GPA? 4.. I also took some community college classes. Do they also count them in GPA if I send by separate transcript?
  1. They don't count freshman grades when re-calculating your HS GPA. Only 10-12
  2. I'm doing the same thing, and what I do is send all of my sealed official transcripts from those online/community colleges to my HS and they put it on my HS transcript. This way you only submit 1 transcript to Stanford.
  3. Not sure, but I would try getting them on my HS transcript just in case. I take the majority of my classes from multiple community colleges and they all go on my HS transcript.

Hope this helps!

At our HS, DE classes are not weighted (I.e., aren’t given an extra point bump), so D’s GC actually recommended NOT including them in HS transcript (since they are not used for meeting HS requirements anyway) as they would lower D’s GPA reflected in HS transcript. I am sure individual al colleges would recognize this and re-calculate, but for various scholarships, etc., D decided the keep the two transcripts separately.

Do they count nonacademic classes such as PE? Also, do they count classes I took summer before 10th grade?
