how does summer semester work?

What does summer A and B stand for? and how come there is no winter semester?

Nope, we don’t have Winter semester because Florida is the Sunshine State! Summer A and B are divisions of summer, in which you can take classes in a short time. :D

Historically, summer semester wasn’t a thing, it was just fall and spring semester. If you look up the definition of semester, you’ll see it’s a division of 2 in an academic year. Summers used to be off. However in modern times that doesn’t work, so there’s now a summer “semester” (it’d be more accurate if we called them trimesters, but whatever). There’s no winter one because we are not on a quarter system (that would be 4 divisions).

Summer A is the first half of summer, it runs from May till mid-late june. Summer B runs from Late june till early august. Summer C runs the entire summer, from may till august.

Generally classes in summer A and B are shorter or simpler classes, where as summer C, running the length of a full semester, allows more time to process data. A or B are only like 6 weeks long, the classes are quite accelerated.
