how does TAP work if you are not in college of letters and science (comm, film, eng)

how does TAP work if you are not applying in college of letters and science (let's say your primary major is in the school of engineering, film, communications)?

BUT, your alternate major is in college of letters and sciences, meaning:

Primary major: Out of College of Letters and Sciences
Alternate major: In College of Letters and Sciences

If you are TAP certified, will admissions people review your alternate if you didn't make it for your primary major, because you are TAP certified. My counselor has said some things, but I would like to get others viewpoints

responses will be appreciated

if you dont get into samueli or whichever school besides L&S, admissions people will give you same priority for the alternative major as other TAP students, as long as you have TAP completed.

most cases for TAP we’re set for both majors we declare, but we just get in with our first choice, USUALLY. thats the beauty of TAP. as long as you have both prereqs finished you shouldnt be too worried, unless your alternative major was something like bizecon

yeah, so i’m tap certified

Primary major: Civil Engineering
Alternate major: Math/Econ (this is one major)

therefore, it is true that I have same priority as ordinary students who’s primary major is in College of L & S, even though mine is in school of engineering

my alternate is in College of L & S, and is not impacted, so u guys think i’m fine, considering the fact that math/econ is not impacted like other majors; therefore, making it a good alternate major choice

comments/suggestions/advice…write it

yea the TAP doesnt help you at all for Engineering, but at least youll have a safety net to fall back on if you dont get in.

are you a fall09 prospective? i have yet to see a person who wanted to go into engineering but still completed TAP. is your TAP certified by this spring?

true about the safety net

regarding krnnoodles questions:

are you a fall09 prospective?- yes
i have yet to see a person who wanted to go into engineering but still completed TAP. is your TAP certified by this spring?- yes, and yeah, many engineering majors don’t do TAP, but I did to give me a back up; i mean there’s nothing to lose

another question for those out there to answer:

i was wondering if i don’t take one of my prereqs for engineering that i stated i would take in the spring (because i’m trying to add that class, and may not be able to get in, let’s hope i do), if engineering decides to not let me in, would my app be sent to College of Letters and Sciences for them to look at my alternate ( which is in College of Letters and Sciences)?? since, my alternate is non-impacted, would that mean that i would at least be admitted into my alternate major, considering the fact that i will have 100% of those prereqs done??
