Hello everone, I've understood that Ivie allot a limited amount of non-US applicants but these restrictions, how do they work? are they established according to countries? for instance: will they take the best german student even if there are more than two hundred asian students better than him? because I've read that more than one hundred nationalities are represented in harvard for example. So, to sum up, ivies will they take the best students at world ? or the best of each country to increase the amount of nationalities represented ?
Thank you and sorry if you find some misspellings. I am not an native english-speaker but I am in progress. :)

some of them but not completly, as i said i’m not totally fluent and it would take too much time to read in comparison with a native, probably more than two hour to assimilate everything. (however I’m aware about almost all the procedure: Sat, toefl for non english speaker…) i prefer keep studying because my english is in my opinion too low and it’s important for me to have an good score in math. Can you answer me please?
in fact i am french and it remains me more than a year but i think that it’s important to have these information as soon as possible
Thank you in advance and once again sorry for the misspellings.

If you are not totally fluent in English, then you SHOULD NOT be applying to US colleges. There is too much information contained in those websites for anyone here on College Confidential to outline it for you. Try copying and pasting the information from the website into [Google Translate](http://translate.google.com/#fr/en/)

Besides an SAT Math, Critical Reading and Writing score, you need a minimum TOEFL score 90 (out of 120) for most US colleges. See: [TOEFL: Home](The TOEFL Tests). Bon chance.

thank you but you know i needn’t to past websites in google translate. it’s just that i am not enough fluent to read during a long time due to vocabulary or idiom which can be ununderstandable without searching in a dictionnary. i think that your answer is too severe because you don’t really know my level, moreover it remains me enough time to improve my english which is not really that bad. on october i will be sixteen. so thank you for having spend your time and i will seek my answer alone. i hope that you will read my message. and we say (bonne chance)

Hey 075014 I am an international student too. In America ages doesn’t tell you information about you grades. For instance I am almost 19 and in one month I will start the senior year. I met a junior at 15 in Texas, I was amazed that I was 18 and I was a junior and she was 15 and she was a junior too.

If you have an awesome Curriculum Vitae then they will accept your without any problem, and it doesn’t matter there are 50 other Germans from your country. To be the chosen one you need to impress the admission officer with your extra curricular activities (awards, online courses)(what did you done in the last 4 years) or by scores. But a perfect score doesn’t guarantee you will be admitted.

By the way: I believe the minimum toefl score it is just the mean of the international students from that university. For instance at Stanford the minimum toefl score is 113 in CS but they will accept you with scores less than 113 but you will need to take some additional courses about comprehension of English.

hello bebetxx, in fact i’m french, the german student was just an example but you must be right about extracurricular activities unfortunately i’ve nothing special except “european” football maybe but i think that anybody can impress even if he doesn’t have a well-rounded curriculum vitae . I don’t know where are you from but in france, our “SAT” is called Baccalaur

Excuse me for the double-post but have you ever repeated a grade?

No, This is the normal ages from my country. I am Christian from Eastern Europe, le petit Paris.

Also in my country we have Baccalaureate. But the Baccalaureate it is only from Europe(if you want to make admission for UK, Germany, etc…) and your universities from France. SAT it is different than Baccalaureate. SAT it is create by ETS organization and test your reading English writing English and MATHs. Your baccalaureate(not even the international one) is not accepted the equivalence of the SAT tests.

SAT it is very different than all other Baccalaureate. For instance 75 quiz from physics

By the way: I don’t know about French Baccalaureate I know about Ro Baccalaureate from my country.

i know that baccalaureate has no worth for the american college,(if there are good, why not put them into your application) but if you want to know, the french baccalaureate lasts more than three days (split of course) it is composed by several exams, one for each discipline. for example maths last two hour, it’s made up with several exercises which take more time to be resolved than those in the Sat. French exams’ are a little bit further and difficult, actually it last 4 hours.
of course there’s one for chemistry, physics, philosophy, english, spanish or italian or german (that is according courses followed by students) and many other.
