How does the AMC and AIME work?

Today I was told that I 'passed' the AMC 12 with a score of 100.5. This is all I heard, and I am really excited and I was wondering if anybody could tell me what this exactly means? Do I get a prize or do I take another test or what?

Thanks!

You get to take the AIME.

Do you think I go somewhere special to take that?

Just offhand I assume you’d take it at your high school, but I’m not sure. If you took the AMC 12 at your high school they should have information about the AIME.

You get to go to a room that is reserved for you, other AIME qualifiers, and a proctor. Sounds like a special place to me , although usually it’s just an unused classroom at your school. :-*

Cool cool cool morning of AMC I looked on college confidential and read to answer 17 questions w/ ability to get 3 wrong for a score of 100.5 and it worked. Sorry to bother you guys more but do you have any tips or anything for the actual test? I am taking it next week. I read how it works and was planning on going over some questions, but I was wondering if there is anything else I should know…

Im going to harvard next year so I dont think they will give me any merit scholarships, but my teacher told me that if I do well there are other programs affiliated with the AIME that could help me get some $$… Plus I am really excited ya know to have to opportunity who doesnt love taking more math tests.

Thank you Jwen556 and halcyonheather very much.

Actually there aren’t any other programs that would get you money, unless you happen to be the top 3 in the USA.

yo thats weak as hell maybe ill get some ladies though

Not according to every sitcom I’ve ever seen.
