How does the GC put "top 5%" as school rank on common app?

Sorry I just read over the common app and saw that the guidance counselor had to either put which decile I'm in or give the exact rank... If I'm in the top 5%, does he just put Rank: "top 5" of "xxx" students?

bump .

The GC circles the percentile, but the number of students per class is listed in the school's profile, which the college also takes into account.

im on the top 5.07% of my class so does that technically round down to "top 5%" or round up to "top 10%" ??

but how does my GC put "top 5%" if the app asks for either decile or exact rank? I know many here on cc have their rank as "top 5%" or "top 1%". I'm worried because my school doesn't give exact rank but at the same time, "top 10%" is sort of an understatement

btw thanks again for the SAT thing gxing ;)

I believe, according to fundamental algebra rules (correct me if i'm wrong, anyone,) if it is between 4.500 and 5.4999, then it rounds to 5.0. So I think that you are fine.
