How does the Maryland MTAP program work? Please help.

I am junior in HS and planning to graduate early (end of junior year) and go to to Montgomery College and transfer to College Park after a year. I have done research on the MTAP program and it seems very good but I can't seem to find consistent information on how the whole thing works. My current GPA in HS this year is 3.9 so I know I will do good in Montgomery College and I have decided to go to Montgomery College because of some stupid decisions I made freshmen year that severely lowered my overall GPA. I am planning to go for a year and since I am graduating early I'll be a freshmen in UMD. So do they only accept certain number of people to the program? If so than what are my chances of being accepted to the program? Also when do I apply for it? And what can I do to improve my chances of being part of the program?

Pick up the phone tomorrow, and call the Transfer Advisor at the MC campus where you plan to take most of your classes. Make an appointment to discuss MTAP. It looks to me like everything you need is right at the MC website: [MTAP - Maryland Transfer Advantage Program](http://cms.montgomerycollege.edu/EDU/Plain.aspx?id=10481) But maybe I am wrong.

From now through some time in March, applications to MC are free, so you might as well go ahead and file yours now and save that $25.

I actually did this exact thing since I didn’t want to spend another year in HS and my grades/ECs weren’t good enough for College Park, since I messed up sophomore year. I’m in my first semester at AACC (would’ve gone to MC since I heard it’s the better cc but AACC is closer for me and has more hybrid courses), and I just applied to MTAP since the deadline is on nov. 15th. So you should apply to MTAP by this time next year. As far as I know, the program isn’t really competitive. The application online only asked for your personal information and how many credits your taking, etc, but I won’t know if I’m in it until the end of December. Like the above poster said, talk to the advisor of the cc you’re interested in and they can tell you what classes you’d need to take. You need at least like five gen ed courses I think. UMD has a faq page here http://www.admissions.umd.edu/page_documents/MTAP_FAQ_7-2013.pdf</a> which can answer most of your questions.
