Continuing the discussion from How does the Northeastern Univ. determine the scholarship, grant for Early Decision applicants ? When is Northeastern Univ. ED day?:
I’m trying to get a guestimate of what I might expect NEU to offer toward my son’s tuition (assuming he’s accepted). He applied ED and NEU provides two tools to estimate.
The more in depth NET price calculator tool NEU provides a link to is here:
https://npc.collegeboard.org/app/northeastern/results
This one after pulling out my tax docs and entering everything, this tool comes back with:
Northeastern University Award $58,700
That can’t be right. I earn a pretty healthy salary from my fortune 20 tech gig and was expecting any award would be very relatively small.
Their other tool, the quick cost estimate says:
Your Estimate: Academic Year - 2020-2021
[LOW $29,900]
[BEST $39,700]
[HIGH $49,500]
I suppose we’ll know within a week if he’s accepted and what NEU offers, I’m just not convinced either of these tools are accurate unless NEU is in the habit of throwing large quantities of cash at relatively high income earners (HA!)
Looks like the quick cost figures for whatever reason didnt make it into my post and I can’t edit it. I don’t know why it says 2020-2021.
LOW $29,900
BEST $39,700
HIGH $49,500
I guess you’re right in that you’ll know likely later this week. If entered correctly, the net price calculator usually is pretty close to their offer. However, if you own you’re own business or are separated or divorced, the NPC is not great (and they share that caveat.) you’ll have to report back later this week! Good luck!
