How does the SAT grading work for colleges?

Here's my question:

If I get 700 Math/700 Reading/700 Writing (2100) in one sitting
then next time I get 800 Math/650 Reading/700 Writing (2150)....

do colleges see my score as being a 800 Math/700 Reading/700 writing = 2200, or do they take the best OVERALL score and my college score is a 2150...

I know colleges take your best score, but does this mean best score for each part, or best overall score?

Thanks

I don't even think the overall score, or the composite, is an official value. We like to add them up, but I think they are treated as seperate things, the sections. I'm pretty sure they'll consider your 700 in CR.

anyone else?

CR/math/Writing are all seperate tests... just like SAT IIs
