How does the SAT Subject Test for Physics correlate to the Physics 1&2 AP?

I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to post this in the AP section or SAT section.
I’m currently enrolled in a year-long class in my high school which, on the syllabus, prepares students for the SAT Subject Test for Physics. (my school doesn’t note “AP” or “Honors” on the course names) However, the class is called “College Physics.”

Does anyone know if preparation for the SAT subject test in Physics will adequately prepare you for either the Physics 1 or 2AP exam? (or neither?)
Thanks

The SAT Subject Tests assumes that students have taken a year-long college prep class in physics. The AP Physics 1 and 2 tests are testing at a first-year college level. So, while your HS class will cover most, if not all, of the topics on the AP tests, the AP courses will cover the material in much more depth. Additionally, the AP tests are more conceptual in nature, so if your teacher is teaching the class using “plug and chug” math, expect issues when taking the AP test.

Bottom line, you could probably take the AP tests with additional preparation on your part outside of class, but it’s doubtful that the class itself will adequately prepare you.
