How Does the Tulane Decision Arrive?

Via snail mail, e-mail or do you have to check the website?

You can learn earliest by checking Gibson on a regular basis, but the decision will arrive via snail mail. And it is only via snail mail that you will learn if you got a merit scholarship and/or if you were invited to the Honors Program. Unless they are doing something new this year, there is no email notification or alert.

Thanks! My son is meeting with the admissions counselor at his school on Wednesday, one of 15 kids who have applied. He is soooooo hopeful to get it, and of course as a parent I’m soooooo worried he’ll be disappointed. ;)

Wow, 15 kids from one high school have applied to Tulane? But just so you know, Tulane really does take each case individually. They don’t worry about some kind of limit from one high school.

Does your son have mid-term grades yet, or is it still too early? If he does have them and they are strong, he should have them with him when he talks to the Tulane rep.

No, too early for mid-term grades. And yes… 15 out of 298 kids are applying to Tulane. He sent an email to the rep saying that he’s excited to speak with her, and also sent her the video clip (3 minutes) of him at age 10 on the CBS Early Show when he did his golf fundraiser for victims of the Katrina aftermath. It’s been his dream to go to school there and help rebuild the city for so many years. I hope it wasn’t too forward of him to do that, but I think anything he can do to stand out is probably good. :)

Oh, that was definitely OK to do. Good luck to him!

mavitale-Wonderful idea to send the video! Definitely not too forward. It will set him apart from the pack.

Thanks, FC! I’ll keep you posted. :)

FYI, on Naviance it shows that in years past there were anywhere from 25-40 kids at my son’s HS that applied to Tulane, and about 1/2 got in.

Thanks Vitrac! He raised $7500 on his own, so it was no small feat. (CC is posting things out of order today for some reason!)

Yes, seems to be a time-stamp problem I guess.
