I received the letter telling me I was waitlisted today, and had a few questions that I'm hoping some of you can help me with. Does UW have a certain process in determining who can be admitted off the waitlist, or is it based on a first-come, first-serve basis?

When UW knows how many spots will be admitted off the wait list (after everyone responds), they’ll go through the entire list and look at the applications again. There’s no ranking.

When they have made a final decision for you, they will contact you again.

They say that they will make wait list decisions even through the summer because some people will commit to UW while waiting for wait list decisions from another school. If those people get into the other school in late May or June and decide to attend, then even more spots will be open.
