Is this a bad course load to present to the college? I have a weighted GPA of 3.5 and an unweighted of around a 3.0 my rank is 190 out of 349, which is awful I know, but I have dealt with SIGNIFICANT challenges throughout my life, which are explained to the colleges by the guidance counselor). I have an SAT combined of 1720, which isn't that great. I have amazing recommendations, and I have excellent EC's. I am a minority student (african american), and my essays are very very amazing. ALso I have emailed my admissions counselor for Tulane a few times with questions, and my "Why Tulane" is pretty good I believe.

Stats are a little weak, but the “story” is what is important. You have a chance.

In-state or out-of-state?

thanks for the post, I’m out of state (MA). Also for Tulane in the “Why” portion, I centered on the university’s commitment to community service, and how a Tulane education would be a stepping stone towards me making a differnce in the world.

In state or OOS is not very important for Tulane, since it is private.

2015hopeful, there isn’t anything you can do to change your record at this point, so asking if it is a bad record to present is kind of futile, if you know what I mean. I imagine you already know that if you go purely by stats your chances wouldn’t be too strong, but of course there can be more to it than stats. It all depends on the other factors, and none of us can possibly judge those. I know you are nervous, very understandable and I sympathize. It sounds like you have made all the right moves in the interest you have shown, so I would just try and focus on other things at this point (isn’t that easy for me to say!) and when you hear, you hear. Unfortunately, nothing anyone here can say will really help you in knowing what the decision will be. Best of luck!

bumppppppp

I just got rejected…

2015 - So sorry to hear that, I know it is extremely disappointing for you. However, I am sure you will make Tulane sorry they made that decision and have an amazing 4 years somewhere else. Make them count. Wherever you end up, very best of luck to you.
