My freshman year I went to a highschool with an IB program that is supposed to be very rigorous, I didn’t do very well, particularly I got c- in spanish and math. Everything was honors, there want any option for easier classes. I transferred to my local public high school, which is still a very good school, an have been doing much better. I’ve still taken some good classes, honors chemistry and english, and APUSH- and next year I’m signed up for AP bio, AP lang, and AP econ.
I’m worried about how my transfering to an easier school will effect how colleges view my application, granted at my easier school i have an unweighted 3.6 gpa, so its not like I’m going to Ivy or anything.
Another concern I have is how my gpa will be calculated. At my first school we had semesters, but at my new school we have trimesters- 3 terms a year instead of two. Will my gpa for a semester by calculated differently than a trimester gpa?
There are many reasons why students transfer - typically, parents move or change jobs. No assumption will be made.
Your GPA will be Year1 GPA + year 2 GPA + year 3 GPA / each grade, added up, divided by the number of full or half classes.
