How does transferring work??

Hi everyone!

So I wanted to know the transferring procedure. I talked to a counselor, and he said that, for example, if I wanted to transfer to a certain U in fall 2012, I will have to submit an application in fall 2011.
But in fall 2011 I will still have a crap load of classes to complete, especially that I'm an engineering major.

I KNOW for a fact that I can finish all of my major prereqs and most of my GE by spring 2011, but how can ANY university make a decision based only on the classes that I will have finished by fall 2011?!

In fall 2011, will have two quarters left, in which I can take 8 classes.

So how the hell does this work??
I don't wonna screw something up and then have to wait another year to transfer.

Thanks in advance.

It depends on the schools you are trying to transfer to. You may want to look up those schools’ web sites for details.

If you are attending a California community college and want to transfer to a UC or CSU, you may want to see the “UC Transfers” forum and check [Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org) to help match up courses to major requirements.

moved it to uc transfers.
thank you, sir. :)

This is normal. They want to see everything that you have taken up to that point. They will then decide to accept you on a conditional basis which usually means that you have to keep a certain GPA through Spring semester and then send them your final transcript before summer.
