Hi everyone!

So I wanted to know the transferring procedure. I talked to a counselor, and he said that, for example, if I wanted to transfer to a certain U in fall 2012, I will have to submit an application in fall 2011.
But in fall 2011 I will still have a crap load of classes to complete, especially that I'm an engineering major.

I KNOW for a fact that I can finish all of my major prereqs and most of my GE by spring 2011, but how can ANY university make a decision based only on the classes that I will have finished by fall 2011?!

In fall 2011, will have two quarters left, in which I can take 8 classes.

So how the hell does this work??
I don't wonna screw something up and then have to wait another year to transfer.

Thanks in advance.

if you wanna transfer by fall 2012, the UCs will have their application open during November 2011. You need to complete that by November 30th 2011.

The UCs only look at your previous grades. In January, when you get your grades for fall 2011, the UC application website will provide all transfer students a chance to update their application and input their Fall 2011 grades. If you don’t update it, your screwed.

Then they review it.

after you get accepted, they give you a contract of how well you need to do during your Spring 2012 to keep your acceptance.

Dont stress out about it dude, just go with the flow bro.

yheafreak, thank you for thr quick reply.

So it doesn’t matter how many classes I have left?
What kind of contract are you talking about?

Can you please elabortate a little bit more?

It does matter how many classes you have left. They need to see that your going to complete all of your prerequisite (GE classes though IGETC or some other method) by spring 2012. If your going to complete everything by spring 2012, your in good shape. But there are certain classes you need to complete BEFORE spring 2012. I forget, talk to your counselor again. plan out your schedule. I know a crap load of people who didnt made a few mistakes in planning their schedule and screwed up their chances of transferring.

Well technically, it doesn’t even matter whether you have all your pre-reqs done, or not. You can still apply, however, you’ll just be at a disadvantage (screwed) come decision time. So no, it doesn’t matter. You can be finishing up 3, 4, or 5 pre-reqs, but just as long as you get them done in the spring.
@ question 2: After you get accept, you just need to maintain a certain gpa to ensure acceptance.
