How does U of M calculate gpa?

Hey so my uw gpa right now is a 3.98 or something because of a few A-'s I got freshman year, I’ve heard mixed responses so not really sure does U of M look at A’s and A-'s the same or will they still take my 3.98 as is?

No subgrades but all classes from all grades.

You have a Michigan 4.0

what they do is look at you in the context of your own school because so many schools have different grading systems/circumstances. Most schools consider a- 4.0, and you’re being considered in the context of your own school/region so it doesn’t actually matter (it might actually be in your benefit since it is a lot harder to get your GPA on your scale)

saying this because your framing puts you slightly worried or unsure negatively, when it should be the opposite. all competitive schools will follow the “comparing you within your own school/region” frame of mind
