How does UCI decide on the waitlist decision?

Is it true that if UCI decide to admit student from the waitlist, ALL waitlisted students will be admitted? and vice versa. Just wondering because I read that somewhere on this forum. Also, what does UCI look at when deciding the decision since major and GPA isn't taken into consideration.

Yes, it’s true. You probably read that from me, but if you look up the past statistics of the waitlist at UCI (or just go to old College Confidential topics) you see that it’s definitely true. ALSO a administrative person confirmed that that’s the policy when I called them. So all they look at is if they have room for the students, and if they do, everyone is in. Or no one.

SO. You’re in, cus I just got in :)

my friend did not pass Calculus 2 which is one of her major requirement… but she passed all her other classes. If she get in from the waitlist, will her admission be revoked?

Well, the waitlist really has nothing to do with the fact that all admittance is provisional- once anyone is admitted, it’s provisional. Her best bet is to contact UCI the second she gets in off the waitlist and inform them of that. Usually if you go out of your way to contact the school they’re understanding, but of course it’s on an individual case by case basis.
