How does UCSD (or whoever's responsible) determine which colleges UCSD admitted's get into?

Didn't see a topic on it, so thought I asked.

For ex. from #1 to #6, my college choices were Muir, Warren, Sixth, Revelle, Marshall, and Roosevelt. I got into Sixth. How did I get into Sixth? (not that I'm saying that's a bad thing, since I don't really know if it is a bad thing)

Probably depending on the spaces of each college and admission stats.

The colleges probably just get to see all of the applicants who picked them as their first choice, and then pick whoever they want. Then the students who don’t get picked go off to their second choice college, etc. That’s how I would imagine they do it, but who knows.

Everyone seems to think they’re college is a really big deal, but it’s really not that big of a deal, whichever college you get.

I went to UCSD and honestly, I don’t know if it even matters. When you graduate, it will just say UCSD on it (I think, haha) when I applied, I didn’t even know what the heck the ranking thing was about but each college has a central study of interest (revels for sciences, etc)

^Your diploma will say your college on it (or at least mine did =D), but again, it doesn’t really matter which college you go to.
