How does UMich calculate COLLEGE/undergrad GPA (nothing to do with High School)

Hello all,

It seems that talking about GPA in college is a taboo subject (no one on campus is very helpful about this), so I was wondering if any current students can divulge some info on undergrad GPA.

Does UMich differentiate between an A and an A-? I can't seem to find anything about it on the Ann Arbor site, but Dearborn and Flint say that A+/A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, etc. Can anyone confirm this?

I already know that they weigh your grades based on credit hours, but I didn't know that they differentiated between the (+)s and (-)s. This is gonna make it harder to do "well" in college, I guess.

On the other hand, I got my hands on the Engineering Dean's List (<a href="http://www.engin.umich.edu/students/deanslist/W09coedeanslist.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.engin.umich.edu/students/deanslist/W09coedeanslist.pdf</a>), and it seems incredibly long. About what percentage of engineers at Michigan are on this list?

Thanks!

-ab2013

A+ (ross only) 4.3
A+/A 4.0
A- 3.7
B+ 3.3
B 3.0
and so on.

A+ (4.4 for Ross)
A+ A = 4
A- = 3.7
B+ = 3.4 (for Ross)
B+ = 3.3
B = 3.0

so it is a 4.4.
