We live in New York and it is most affordable for our son to go to UB. He got into the Architecture program there. I know it is the only SUNY Arch program. I was just wondering if anyone knows how it ranks or can comment on the program.

Is this a B.Arch? Is it NAAB accredited? If it is, then there shouldn’t be too much to be concerned about. Don’t worry if it isn’t in the top 10 or 15 or whatever. If cost is a major consideration, then it could be a good bang for the buck. As an architect myself, I haven’t heard much of it, but a trip to campus could prove the best thing.

The University of Buffalo, SUNY is a MArch program.

I believe it is a BArch program. One thing that concerned my DS who also got in was the graduation rate. It seems they weed out after every year, and in the end under 60% of those admitted freshman year actually graduate from the program. Def you should visit and see if it’s a good fit for you.

According to Design Intelligence on their listing of all architecture schools in the US, The University of Buffalo, SUNY is listed as a MArch. Check their website. It lists a BS in Architecture Studies which is not a BArch degree. The only professional degree they offer is the MArch.

Here is the listing for SUNY Buffalo in the NAAB website: (Note that it is listed only as an MArch program, not a BArch.)
