How does UP calculate unweighted GPA for highschool?

Is there any difference between A and A-, B and B-, etc?

A and A- equal 4.0?
B and B- equal 3.0?

I know that when I applied, my transcript had on it what the grading scale for my school was (i.e. percent wise, what was a A, B+, etc.) so Pitt takes that scale into consideration.

The easiest thing they could do is convert your letter grades into a percent, match that up with Pitt’s grading scale, and recalculate your GPA. Not sure if they go that far though.
