How does UPitt's guaranteed admission work? How competitive do you have to be for it?

Okay, I just read a post here about how someone got into UPitt recently and I got inspired to apply, lol.

I started filling out my application when I saw they automatically consider you for a bunch of stuff, including guaranteed admission into medical school! (and omg their med school is like amazing)

So what should I do if I'm aiming for this? How obvious do I need to be? I'm using my NMSF essay which is about how I want to study medicine. Then should i have my AP Biology teacher write my rec? She probably will talk about how I'm going to benefit the world through my pursuit of medicine...and my love of biology...so sound good?

Anyone know the chances of getting a guaranteed transfer to med school through a freshman application? anyone ever get one or hear of something getting one? Is it like super competitive/rare or what? Please help, thanks!

Oh yeah this might sound a little superficial/cocky, but I probably wouldn't attend UPitt unless I got either A) a full ride, or B) a guaranteed admission deal because my parents would never pay for it, they'd rather I stay at our in-state safety school, and I wouldn't be able to justify it to myself asking my parents to pay that much.

For one of Pitt's full ride scholarships you should generally have 1450+ on the SAT (1550+ if you want to be more sure), great rank/gpa, good essays, and competitive ECs. So pretty much if you're competitive for HYPS you're competitive for Pitt's full rides.

thanks for your response!

how will they find out about my ECs? they don't ask for them on an app...but I'd say they're pretty medicine-focused. do i send a resume?

and i have a 4.0/1520....

I have a 3.9/1480, I'm hoping for a decent scholarship hopefully. Same question as Hannahmontana - on their app they just ask for a few generic things like student body president, national honor society (lol), "internship" and whatever. How do I send a resume? By...mail? (***?)

1450/1600? or 1450/2400?

^ 1450/1600

Dont qoute me on any of this but I think you are admitted to any grad school if your in the top 1% of your high school class and if you have over 1450/33

You guys should check out the UPitt forum. It has a couple topics on scholarships.

What about their law school?
