is UrM status as helpful as it is in undergrad admission? do they consider it? thanks.

i don't think that urm helps as much when applying to med school. most med schools are a lot tougher to get in to and a lot more selective than even some of the ivies. i think that they primarily look at your mcat score, your college gpa, your past experience in the medical field and your interview.
good luck!

I recall looking through stats of acceptees to medical schools, sorry, couldn't possibly remember the link. But perhaps a year ago. Judging from what I saw URM is a big factor in med school admissions.

yes, URM status has an affect in medical school admissions. And law school, and graduate school.

i dont think so someones freaking life is on the line color doesnt matter

^But it does...

you would be lucky to get into ANY med school. I know lots of people who went to UPenn undergrad and then Temple for med school. admission rates are around 4% at these schools. URM or not, you must be very qualified.

yep, if urm status helps this much for undergrad admissions- |<------------>|
then it helps this much for med school admissions- |<-->|

i have this cousin who got into this really good medical program and she's a urm. but i don't know much about her stats. but she said she felt like everyone else was way more qualified than her, so it's quite likely that urm status helped.

Im sorry but what exactly does URM stand for? unrecognisable minority?

bump.......

It stands for underrepresented minority.

And I was curious, are Asians considered a URM?

No they aren't.
