How does UT handle the admittance of their major/degree applications?

Recently, I got automatically admitted to the University of Texas, at Austin. On my application, I have my first major selected as Computer Science, Entry-Level, and then my second major is currently selected as Economics, yet I’ve sent in a request to change it to Unspecified Business/Freshman. Along with these two, I’ve sent in a Dean Scholars application and Turing Scholars application. With that in mind, how does the major/degree admission process work? If I don’t get into the Natural Science Honors Program/Computer Science Honors Program (Dean Scholars/Turing Scholars), can I still get into the Computer Science, entry-level program, or does it revert down to my second selected major?

Each college manages their own admissions. Admissions to UT doesn’t promise admissions to the college.

The College of Natural Science needs to accept you to major in computer science (they have different admission rates for each major as well).

If your first pick does not accept you, your application will be sent to McCombs business school.

If you’re not accepted to any of the schools you picked, UT will place you at whichever schools have room (it won’t be CNS, McCombs, or Cockrell). You would have to do an internal transfer which is very hard to get into competitive colleges.

@Jpgranier I thought admissions reads applications, not McCombs , Cockrell , etc
