I didn’t apply to UVA since I had little to no chance and wanted to spend my time pursuing other schools. I am starting to think about taking a gap year. At the end of high school I should have about a 3.7 GPA (due to a weak freshman and sophomore year). I have a 32 ACT and a 2100 SAT with 770 Math II and 710 US History subject tests. I am out of state, which makes getting in significantly more difficult so if I have a productive, interesting idea for a gap year would that help in admissions? Would I be better off attending a different school and then transferring to UVA? I want to study business at UVA, which I know is difficult for transfers, and also the guys I know and like in fraternities at UVA don’t have chapters at the schools I am considering attending.
Would that gap year just happen to involve living and working in the Commonwealth of Virginia? Move one year before you would matriculate and you can establish legal residency here.
