OK my situation is, ilve been waitlisted at college A and B, and accepted at C.
I prefer B to C and A to B and C.

Could someone please explain how the waitlisting process works (I tried the search function but didnt really get a helpful answer). Do I say im going to college C and then go through the whole process pretending I actually am, and then if i get accepted at A, just withdraw from C?

Also, can I accept the waitlist place at A and B or should I just pick one? Is it legally/ morally wrong to choose 2 waitlist places?

If C happens to be a really selective college, would they be ****ed off that I chose to go somewhere else? Could this affect my chances at grad school etc.? What if college B or A is regarded as a "lesser" institution?

Do I need to inform College C of my decision to accept a waitlist somewhere else?

If I am accepted at A, can I still change my mind and go to C instead? (just to clear any misconceptions - I dont want to accept the waitlist "just to see i f i got in" - the aid package might be the problem)

I'm in a similar situation. As I understand it:
1. Most schools won't let you know until mid-May (or into the summer) if you've been accepted off their waitlist, so you should still submit college C's SIR and deposit by May 1.
2. I believe that you can accept places on multiple waitlists, as there is nothing that says you can't.
3. Keeping a place on the waitlist does not make you obligated to go if you happen to be accepted... however, if your college's waitlist is unranked, they might be more likely to accept you if you inform them that they ARE your first choice and will absolutely attend if accepted.
4. If you are accepted from the waitlist after all of this, just tell college C. They won't be mad and hex your future education plans - I'm sure colleges lose some students every year to waitlister schools. If anything, college C should be happy - your deposit was non-refundable, so they just made a couple hundred bucks off some kid who won't even be coming to their school.

Above is correct. You can accept at one that offerred acceptance and get on waitlist at other two and then end up going to one of those others if accepted and withdrawing from the first and none of the colleges prohibits you from doing that or considers it morally wrong. Also, you will will be notified sometime in mid to late May whether you have made it off the waitlist.
