I guess this is for all colleges but how do schools keep track of demonstrated interest. If I were to send them emails asking questions, how would they know it is me and how would they keep track that it is me if I’m not a senior, who has submitted an application. Same thing goes for visits, do they just have a huge database with everyone that has visited and then when you apply it automatically links all the data together?
It’s my understanding that everyone who has contacted WashU has a file, and every time you contact the university in some way the interaction is recorded in the file. This includes signing up for mailing lists, emailing, visiting, applying, etc.
I can’t say for sure, though since I’m only an applicant, but admissions officers have told me that they were adding things “to my file,” whether it be new information or the fact that I went to a local info session.
@JemmaSimmons So when you sent an email did you include your full name and school name?
Just my full name, usually.
