How does wifi work at USC

Hey guys,

I was wondering is there wifi connection throughout the USC campus? Is it fast? Do I need to buy any router for my computer to connect online in the dorms? Thanks

USC Wireless is pretty damn unreliable, so I would definitely recommend buying an Ethernet cable, if not a router, too, to set up your own wireless internet connection in your dorm room. It makes life a lot easier.

Hmm that’s interesting. I thought wifi at any college should be moderately good.

Supposedly, ITS is going to be making substantial upgrades to the wifi on campus. Don’t count on it, though. Technically, it’s against the rules to set up a router in your dorm room, but no one gets in trouble for it (unless you go over the bandwidth limits). It’s definitely worthwhile.

USC wifi is great in some areas, poor in others. In the dorms, just get a cable and plug your computer into the wall. In most buildings on campus it’s pretty good. Around the engineering areas of the campus it’s excellent.
